Events and competitions

Statistics Finland will also organise events and competitions during the centenary year.

Statistics into use - Competitions for the media and students

In honour of Finland's centenary, Statistics Finland will arrange two competitions related to the utilisation of statistics. In the Statistics in the media competition we look for the best data utilising statistics in the media. In the competition for students at universities and universities of applied sciences we search for the best electronic implementation to illustrate statistics.

Both competitions run from 6 December 2016 to 1 October 2017. A prize of EUR 2,000 is awarded in both competitions. The winners will be published towards the end of 2017.

The winners of Finland’s competition are awarded in the seminar “Nuoret ja tulevaisuus” (Young people and the future) organised by Statistics Finland, the State Youth Council and the Finnish Youth Research Society in Musiikkitalo in Helsinki on 7 March 2017. The event is open for media.

The posters that won first place in Finland are translated into English and delivered to the international final, the results of which are announced in July 2017 at the World Statistics Congress in Marrakesh, Morocco.
