Description of the data collection
Data for statistics on construction are collected annually from construction enterprises. The inquired data concern work directed at renovation building and newbuilding.
Income from renovation building refers to construction, repair and demolition work and installation and finishing directed at buildings or their parts carried out in Finland. Income from construction services, divided into renovation building and newbuilding, are reported as values (EUR).
The basic frame of the statistics is formed by Statistics Finland’s Business Register. The background data on the enterprises are derived from Statistics Finland's financial statements database.
From whom are data collected?
The inquiry concerns all construction enterprises with more than 50 employees. In addition, construction enterprises with five to 50 employees have been selected by random sampling.
Enterprises with fewer than ten employees are asked only for a breakdown of income from building construction and from civil engineering construction. Income from building construction is divided into newbuilding and renovation building projects. The inquiry covers some 1,000 construction industry enterprises.
The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential and use them only for statistical purposes.
What are the data used for?
The data are used in compilation of statistics on renovation building of construction enterprises. The data on are also used by trade associations representing construction, large construction enterprises and national accounts for estimating the total volume of renovation building.
How often are data collected?
