Use of information technology in enterprises as a key objective of the recearch is to investigate the use of ICT by enterprises, as well as e-commerce of enterprises
The survey is EU harmonised, so it is implemented with uniform data contents and methods in all EU countries. Use of information technology in enterprises are based on Regulations of the European Union, which in part require the collection of the data in question (EC) No 808/2004 No 1006/2009.
The survey is carried out annually and the data collection will start in February. The questionnaire will be answered in electronic form on the Internet.
From whom are data collected?
The survey focuses on enterprises engaged in industry, mining and quarrying, electricity, gas and heat supply, water and waste management, construction, wholesale and retail trade and service sectors.
Data is collected from all enterprises of at least a hundred more employees, and enterprises that employ less than hundred employees are extracted from the sample. The survey involved around 4 000 – 4 500 enterprises.
The data supply obligation of enterprises is based on the Finnish Statistics Act (280/2004, Section 14).
The Statistics Act obliges Statistics Finland to treat the data as confidential and use them only for statistical and research purposes.
What are the data used for?
The data is used to compile statistics on the use of information technology in enterprises and e-commerce.
Statistical data will be delivered to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities and statistics are used in public administration, organizations, research institutes and business both in Finland and in international comparison.
