Statistics Finland’s operations are funded with appropriations from the national budget, income from the agency’s charged activities, and with funding received from other government authorities and the EU. In 2017, seventy-one per cent of the funding came as appropriations for operating expenses, that is, from the national budget. Revenue from charged activities made up 11 per cent and external financing three per cent of the total funds available. Fifteen per cent of the funding was carried forward from the previous year.
At the end of 2017, the personnel of Statistics Finland numbered 840. The number of staff-years totalled 752, of which interviewers in data collection accounted for 96. Women made up 62 per cent of the total personnel of whom 76 per cent had at least lowest level tertiary or university qualification.
