StatFin statistical database service is reorganised

The data content of the StatFin statistical database is divided into two different databases on 5 October 2017. The most recent statistical tables can in future be found easily, because the tables that are no longer updated are separated into a specific database. At the same time, the file names are standardised, and they change.

The standardisation of metadata will also begin during autumn. With these changes we develop the content of open statistical data so that the selection and further processing of data will be easier in future. Initially, there may be some delay in the updating of tables.

Changes affect the use of open data

We ask users of open data to note that changes in the file names and metadata require changes to their personal selection definitions. More detailed information about the changes (e.g. a list of file names before and after the change and listings of the data content of different databases) is available on our website (in Finnish only).

In the following, metadata will be combined by standardising the codes and headings of variables (e.g. time, sex, area). Information on the timetables and details of these changes will be given later this year.

We welcome any improvement suggestions and feedback about the StatFin statistical database and use of open data.
