Classifications
We maintain and publish the national statistical service’s classification recommendations. Many of them are based on international standards. By using common classifications statistical data from different times and areas can be more easily compared.
In addition to the classification recommendations, the service also contains other classifications required by individual sets of statistics or registers and code lists used when publishing statistical data. The classifications can be downloaded as CSV files or through the open interface.
The classifications consist of the names, codes and descriptions of the categories. Classification refers to dividing the observation units of statistical data into groups, i.e. categories, according to the characteristics defined for them. Each unit belongs to only one category. The code of the category consists of numbers or letters.
