Fields of science in R&D
The classification is used for dividing research and development expenditure and full-time equivalents in the government and higher education sectors.
The Ministry of Education and Culture prepared a national version of the classification of fields of science in cooperation with Statistics Finland in 2010. Some headings are specified in the classification so that the renewed classification can be converted to correspond to the OECD's international recommendation.
The classification is the classification of fields of science for the statistics on research and development.
The classification is based on the OECD recommendation: Fields of R&D, FORD (Frascati Manual 2015, Guidelines for Collecting and Reporting Data on Research and Experimental Development).
