Statistics Finland’s operations are funded with appropriations from the national budget, income from the agency’s charged activities, and with funding received from other government authorities and the EU. In 2021 seventy five per cent of the funding came as appropriations for operating expenses, that is, from the national budget. Revenue from charged activities made up 12 per cent and external financing five per cent of the total funds available. Eight per cent of the funding was carried forward from the previous year.
At the end of 2021, the personnel of Statistics Finland numbered 822. The number of staff-years totalled 747, of which interviewers in data collection accounted for 102. Women made up nearly 61 per cent of the total personnel of whom nearly 70 per cent had at least a lower tertiary level qualification.
