Confirmed result: Left Alliance and Finns Party successful in the European Parliament elections 2014

The Left Alliance won one seat in the European Parliament and support for the party rose to 9.3 per cent, which is 3.4 percentage points higher than in the previous European Parliament elections. Compared to the 2009 European Parliament elections, the share of votes cast for the Finns Party rose by 3.1 percentage points to 12.9 per cent. The Finns Party won one additional seat in the election, which raises the number of the party's seats in the European Parliament to two.

Description: European Parliament elections are held every five years in all Member States of the European Union. Statistics Finland produces official statistics from the elections. The preliminary statistics are published on the Internet, in the StatFin online service and on the statistics pages on European Parliment elections as soon as possible starting from the election night. The second data, or the final data are supplied to Statistics Finland after the election result is confirmed. After the confirmation of the election result, the confirmed data corresponding to the preliminary statistics are released on the statistics pages on the Internet and the StatFin databases are updated.
