Building costs rose by 1.6 per cent in August

Building costs were 1.6 per cent higher in August 2010 than in August 2009. Labour costs in construction rose by 0.3 per cent and prices of materials by 3.2 per cent in the year. Those of other inputs fell by 0.9 per cent. This is indicated by the Building Cost Index of Statistics Finland.

From July to August, the total index of building costs rose by 0.1 per cent. The prices of materials rose by 0.2 per cent. By contrast, the prices for labour were 0.2 per cent lower than in July and the prices for those of other inputs were 0.2 per cent lower.
