According to Statistics Finland, there were 370 adoptions in Finland in 2019. The number of domestic adoptions was 291 and that of international adoptions 79. The number adoptions of children born in both Finland and abroad decreased from the previous year. In total, the number of adoptions was 34 lower than in 2018.

Description: The statistics on adoptions contain data about children adopted from Finland or abroad by a person or persons permanently resident in Finland. There may be either one or two adoptive parents. A new spouse of a child’s biological parent may also adopt his or her stepchild(ren). Data on adoptions are produced by the age, gender and country of birth of adopted children.
