Number of adoptions from abroad decreased in 2013

According to Statistics Finland, there were 459 adoptions in Finland in 2013. The figure was seven lower than in the year before. The number of domestic adoptions rose slightly. They numbered 292, thirty higher than one year earlier.

Description: The statistics on adoptions contain data about children adopted from Finland or abroad by a person or persons permanently resident in Finland. There may be either one or two adoptive parents. A new spouse of a child’s biological parent may also adopt his or her stepchild(ren). Data on adoptions are produced by the age, gender and country of birth of adopted children.
