Number of adoptions unchanged in 2012

According to Statistics Finland, adoptions in 2012 numbered 466. The figure is the same as one year earlier. The number of domestic adoptions grew only a little. Their number was 258, five more than one year before. Last year, the number of internal adoptions within families of registered same-sex partnerships remained unchanged at 91.

Description: The statistics on adoptions contain data about children adopted from Finland or abroad by a person or persons permanently resident in Finland. There may be either one or two adoptive parents. A new spouse of a child’s biological parent may also adopt his or her stepchild(ren). Data on adoptions are produced by the age, gender and country of birth of adopted children.
