Employment grew and unemployment fell in April 2006
According to the Labour Force Survey of Statistics Finland, the number of employed persons was 2,384,000 in April, i.e. 47,000 higher than one year before. The employment rate stood at 67.5 per cent, while it was 66.4 per cent in April 2005.
The number of unemployed persons was 225,000 in April, which is 35,000 fewer than one year before. The rate of unemployment was 8.6 per cent, while it was 10.0 per cent one year earlier.
