Purchase prices of the means of agricultural production took a downward turn in the second quarter of 2023

Statistics Finland reports that the purchase prices of the means of agricultural production decreased by nearly 6 % in the second quarter of 2023 compared with the previous year’s corresponding period. The prices of goods and services consumed in agriculture were a tenth lower than a year ago. On the other hand, goods and services contributing to agricultural investment were 8 % more expensive. The index remained high. Agricultural input prices increased by a third compared with the base year 2015, whereas the general inflation for the same period totalled 20 %.
