Number of nights spent at accommodation establishments decreased by 3 per cent in May 2024 from the previous year

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 1.53 million overnight stays were recorded at accommodation establishments in May 2024. The number of nights spent by resident tourists was 1.17 million and that of nights spent by non-resident tourists 0.36 million. The total number of overnight stays decreased by three per cent from the year before.

  • The highest numbers of foreign visitors came from Sweden, Germany and the United States.
  • The occupancy rate of hotel rooms was 50 per cent, which is three percentage points lower than in May 2023.
  • The average price of a hotel room was EUR 115, having been EUR 120 one year earlier. The average price of a hotel room was highest in Pirkanmaa and Uusimaa, EUR 123.
