Stock of free-time residences grew only slightly in 2021
The annual growth in the stock of free-time residences has slowed down. According to Statistics Finland, the stock of free-time residences has grown by around 2,100 free-time residences per year in the early 2020s, whereas in the 2010s it grew by an average of 3,700 free-time residences per year. The construction of free-time residences has been on the decline for a long time now, with the highest growth recorded in the 1970s. At the end of 2021, there were 508,919 free-time residences in Finland, while the municipality with the highest number of free-time residences is still Kuopio.
