How can you use Statistics Finland's data?

Main principle: You can use Statistics Finland's statistical data and texts as long as you mention Statistics Finland as the source.  

Statistics Finland's open data materials and public content of the web service are covered by the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. According to the licence, you can copy, edit and share these data either in original or edited format. You can also combine the data with other data and use the data for commercial purposes as well. This licence applies to texts, tables and statistical graphs.

When you use these data or share them, give at least Statistics Finland as the source (Source:

).

To what does the licence not apply?

The licence does not apply to

  • Data produced by other organisations published on Statistics Finland's website. They are subject to the terms of use of each data producer.
  • Use of photographs and illustrative images. Their copyright owners are the creators of the images or Statistics Finland. The use of such material is always subject to a separate agreement.
  • Data produced as assignments and chargeable services. Their terms of use are specific to each agreement.

Unless otherwise separately stated in connection with the product, data or service concerned, Statistics Finland is the producer of the data and the owner of the copyright.

How can you refer to the data?

The extent of source reference depends on the context. However, always quote at least Statistics Finland.
