Number of assaults in restaurants on pre-Covid level

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, a total of 216,900 offences against the Criminal Code were recorded by the police, customs and border guard during January to June 2022. This is 6.6 per cent fewer than in January to June 2021. The recorded number of assaults was 17,900 and that of sexual offences 2,800.

  • The number of theft offences decreased by 3.1 per cent compared to January to June 2021.
  • The number of sexual offences grew by nine per cent compared to January to June 2021.
  • The number of assaults increased by 12.5 per cent compared to January to June 2021.
  • The number of assaults in restaurants increased by 209.5 per cent compared to January to June 2021. In all, 1,300 such assaults were reported.
