Producer prices for manufactured products grew by 26.7 % in March 2022 year-on-year

Correction

The time series of producer price indices were corrected on 23 December 2022. The correction concerns some product categories and total indices of the producer price index for manufactured products and export price index from 01/2022-10/2022, as well as the total index of the basic price index for domestic supply, including taxes from 01/2021-10/2022. The data of the import price index and the basic price index for domestic supply remain unchanged.

According to Statistics Finland, producer prices for manufactured products rose by an average of 26.7 % from March 2021 to March 2022. Producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose by 23.4 %, while the producer prices of export products went up by 30.2 %.

The rise in the producer prices for manufactured products was particularly caused by higher prices of oil products, basic metals, paper and paper products from last year's March.

The export price index rose by 30.1 % and the import price index by 29.1 % in the year. The basic price index for domestic supply went up by 20.6 %. The basic price index for domestic supply including taxes rose by 17.5 %.

The rise in the export price index was especially due to higher prices of oil products, basic metals and paper and paper products from last year’s March. The rise in the import price index was especially caused by higher prices of crude oil, chemicals and chemical products and basic metals.

From February to March, producer prices for manufactured products rose by 5.0 %. Producer prices were particularly boosted by the risen prices of oil products and chemicals and chemical products compared with the previous month.
