Households’ net financial assets remained almost unchanged in the third quarter of 2022

Households’ indebtedness ratio

Households’ financial assets grew by EUR 1.1 billion in the third quarter of 2022 and were EUR 172.6 billion. However, households' indebtedness ratio fell by 0.3 percentage points from the previous quarter to 133.6 %. Households' indebtedness ratio is calculated as the ratio of their loan debts at the end of a quarter to their total disposable income during the preceding four quarters.

Holding losses decreased households’ financial assets

During the third quarter of 2022, households increased their net investments in financial assets by EUR 0.2 billion. Households' net investments increased most in deposits and mutual fund shares. Even though households' net investments in financial assets increased, holding losses caused a decrease in the total level of financial assets.
