Direct business subsidies paid amounted to EUR 1.4 billion in 2021
According to Statistics Finland’s data, direct business subsidies amounted to EUR 1,424 million in 2021, which is 19 per cent less than one year earlier. EUR one billion of the direct business subsidies were paid because of the coronavirus pandemic. Loans amounted to EUR 478 million and guarantees to EUR 1,370 million. Business subsidies were received by 60,872 enterprises.

Among the industries, most subsidies were received by service industries, where direct subsidies amounted to EUR 853 million, of which EUR 706 million due to the coronavirus pandemic. The most important service industry that received subsidies was accommodation and food service activities, for which direct subsidies amounted to EUR 271 million. Direct subsidies paid to manufacturing amounted to EUR 249 million.
