Non-subsidised rents increased in October to December 2022

According to Statistics Finland, rents of non-subsidised dwellings increased by 0.9 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 1.8 per cent in a year in the rest of Finland in October to December 2022. The rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings rose most in Rovaniemi (3.0 %), Tampere (2.8 %) and Turku (2.3 %), and least in Pori (0.2 %) and Mikkeli (0.3%). Non-subsidised rents remained unchanged in Rauma.

Key selections

  • The development of non-subsidised rents is differentiated in growth centres; the rise in Tampere and Turku is clearly bigger than in the Greater Helsinki area.
  • Rents of non-subsidised one-room flats rose by only 0.3 per cent in Greater Helsinki. In the rest of Finland, rents of one-room flats went up by 1.5 per cent.
  • The rents of non-subsidised family dwellings rose by 3.8 per cent in Tampere, by 3.4 per cent in Turku and by 1.6 per cent in Helsinki.
  • Rents of government-subsidised dwellings went up in Greater Helsinki and elsewhere in Finland by plus or minus one per cent.
  • Examined by postal code area, the average rents per square metre of non-subsidised one-room flats are below EUR 30 everywhere.
