Changes in the examined main industries in June

In June, enterprises received fewer orders than twelve months ago in all examined manufacturing main industries. Orders decreased by 27.6 per cent in the chemical industry and by 24.4 per cent in the manufacture of paper and paper products compared to the previous year. In the metal industry, the value of orders was 4.4 per cent lower in June than one year before.

When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.

Changes in the main industries in the early part of the year

The value of new orders received by enterprises during January to June was lower than one year before in all examined main industries. Orders decreased most in the early part of the year in the chemical industry, where the value of orders was 12.5 per cent lower than in the previous year. In the early part of the year, orders decreased by 5.8 per cent in the metal industry and by 5.5 per cent in the manufacture of paper and paper products compared to the previous year.
