Turnover in trade fell by 2.5 per cent in October 2023

Growth in motor vehicle trade weakened in October

Among the main industries of trade, turnover grew strongest in motor vehicle trade, where working day adjusted turnover grew in October by 6.8 per cent and sales volume by 4.1 per cent from one year back.

Working day adjusted turnover in the trade industry with the biggest turnover, wholesale trade, decreased in October by 7.1 per cent and sales volume by 0.1 per cent year-on-year.

In retail trade, working day adjusted turnover grew by 1.7 per cent in October but sales volume decreased by 1.3 per cent. The turnover of daily consumer goods trade increased by 4.4 per cent from one year back and the volume of sales by 0.4 per cent in the corresponding period. Turnover in department store trade increased by 8.2 per cent and sales volume by 3.4 per cent from one year back. In specialised store trade, turnover fell by 1.4 per cent and the volume of sales declined by 4.0 per cent.

Seasonally adjusted turnover fell compared to September

Seasonally adjusted turnover in total trade fell in October by 0.1 per cent compared to September. Seasonally adjusted sales volume went up by 0.6 per cent. In September, seasonally adjusted turnover did not change but sales volume decreased by 0.5 per cent compared to the month before.
