Establishments centred in the region of Uusimaa and in service industries in 2021

According to Statistics Finland, there were 591,500 establishments operating in Finland in 2021. The number of establishments was highest in the region of Uusimaa, where 170,900 establishments were operating, being nearly one-third of all establishments. Examined by industry, one-half of all establishments were establishments of service industries.

Group of statistical units has changed

⁠The data of the statistics have been produced for the first time according to the new EU Regulation on business statistics starting from 2021. As a result of the regulation change, the group of statistical units has increased by almost 50%. The effects of the change are described in the review (in Finnish).
