Enterprise openings and closures 2024, 1st quarter

Registered new enterprises numbered 15,031 in January to March 2024

According to Statistics Finland, 15,031 new enterprises were registered during the first quarter of 2024. Compared to the corresponding period of the year before, the number of registrations went up by eight per cent. Of the registered enterprises 5,212 were limited companies and 9,693 were natural persons.

  • During the first quarter of 2024, one per cent fewer limited companies were registered than in the corresponding period of the year before.
  • Of the enterprises registered in the first quarter of 2024, a total of 9,693 were natural persons, which is thirteen per cent more than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
  • A natural person engages in entrepreneurial activity under his/her own name or under a registered trading name. This group includes own-account workers, sole proprietors, most agricultural and forestry entrepreneurs, as well as practitioners of trade.
