According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, Finland's population was 5,604,558 at the end of December 2023. In the course of 2023, Finland’s population grew by 40,588 persons. The reason for the population increase was migration gain from abroad since immigration exceeded emigration by 58,496. The number of births was 17,786 lower than that of deaths.
