Number of persons receiving Finnish citizenship reached new record in 2023

According to Statistics Finland, Finnish citizenship was granted in 2023 to 12,224 foreign citizens permanently resident in Finland. The number of persons receiving Finnish citizenship exceeded the previous record from 2017 and is the highest during Finnish independence. Altogether, 2,026 more Finnish citizenships were granted than in 2022. In relative terms, the number grew by 20 per cent from the previous year.
