Non-subsidised rents increased in October to December 2023

According to Statistics Finland, rents of non-subsidised dwellings increased by 0.1 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 2.0 per cent in a year in the rest of Finland in October to December 2023. The rents of non-subsidised rental dwellings rose most in Oulu (2.8 %), Hämeenlinna (2.5 %) and Kokkola (2.4 %) and least in Vantaa (0.2 %), Helsinki (0.1 %) and Espoo (0.0 %).

Key selections

  • Rents in non-subsidised dwellings have risen most from the previous year in one-room flats in Oulu by 3.7 per cent, in two-room flats in Riihimäki by 2.5 per cent and in family dwellings in Hämeenlinna by 3.2 per cent.
  • Rents of non-subsidised one-room flats increased by 0.2 per cent in Greater Helsinki. Rents of one-room flats went up by 1.9 per cent in the rest of Finland.
  • Rents of government-subsidised dwellings went up by 3.5 per cent in Greater Helsinki and by 3.9 per cent in the rest of the country in a year.
  • The median rent for a non-subsidised one-room flat is EUR 750 in Helsinki, EUR 605 in Tampere and EUR 520 in Oulu.
