release | Quarterly national accounts 2024, 1st quarterAccording to Statistics Finland, the volume of Finland’s gross domestic product grew by 0.2 per cent in January to March 2024 from the level of the previous quarter. Adjusted for working days, GDP was 1.2 per cent lower than one year ago. According to preliminary data compiled by Eurostat, GDP in the EU area grew by 0.3 per cent in January to March 2024 from the previous quarter.

- In January to March 2024, the volume of exports decreased by 4.6 per cent from the previous quarter. The volume of imports declined by 0.5 per cent.
- Private consumption grew by 1.0 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 from the level in October to December.
- Government consumption expenditure increased by 2.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2024 from October to December.
- Gross fixed capital formation, or investments, contracted in January to March 2024 by 4.8 per cent from the previous quarter. Both private and public sector investments decreased.
