Railway statistics 2024, 1st quarter

Rail freight traffic decreased by 18 per cent in the first quarter of 2024

According to Statistics Finland, a total of 21 million trips was travelled by rail in the first quarter of 2024, which was five per cent more than in the same quarter last year. Freight transferred by rail was 5,6 million tons, which was 18 per cent less than in the first quarter of 2023.

Correction

Quarterly data 2023Q4 and 2024Q1 of the statistics and the figures of the annual statistics 2022 were corrected.
