Read more about the changeAccording to Statistics Finland, around 6.1 million leisure trips abroad with overnight stay were made in 2023, which is one fifth more than in 2022. The number of domestic leisure trips with overnight stay fell for the second year in a row. The number of business trips both in Finland and abroad grew from the year before.

- In 2023, the total number of trips with overnight stay was 31.2 million, including leisure and business trips in Finland and abroad.
- The growth in leisure trips abroad was mainly due to an increase in trips with paid accommodation. The number of trips grew by one fifth and was around 4.4 million in 2023.
- Domestic leisure trips with overnight stay numbered 21.3 million, down by good one tenth from the previous year.
- The number of business trips with overnight stay in Finland and abroad was 3.8 million. The number of business trips abroad went up by nearly one fifth.
- Nearly 90 per cent of the population made at least one leisure trip with overnight stay during 2023.
