According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) increased by 1.8 per cent in December 2024 from December 2023.

Turnover grew most in the electronic and electrical industry

Turnover adjusted for working days grew most in December in the electronic and electrical industry, by 42.3 per cent from the year before. Turnover in mining and quarrying was 27.6 per cent higher than one year earlier. Turnover in the metal industry increased by 12.7 per cent year-on-year. Turnover decreased most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 24.0 per cent from one year back. Turnover in the forest industry was 8.4 per cent lower and turnover in the chemical industry 4.0 per cent lower than in the previous year.

Export turnover increased in several main industries

Export turnover increased in several main industries in December. Export turnover grew most from the previous year in mining and quarrying (48.0%) and the electronic and electrical industry (46.9%). In the metal industry, export turnover was 15.8 per cent higher than one year previously. Export turnover decreased in the textile, clothing and leather industry (-5.3%) and the chemical industry (-5.1%).

Domestic turnover decreased most in December in the forest industry, by 28.2 per cent from one year back. Domestic turnover in the chemical industry was 1.4 per cent lower than one year earlier. Most growth was recorded in the electronic and electrical industry, up by 13.8 per cent from the year before. In mining and quarrying, domestic turnover grew by 6.7 per cent and in the metal industry by 5.0 per cent.

Turnover grew in December from the month before

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry increased by 1.2 per cent in December 2024 compared to November. In both November and October, turnover decreased by 0.7 per cent compared to the previous month.
