New orders in manufacturing grew by 1.9 per cent year-on-year in January 2025
According to Statistics Finland, the value of new orders in manufacturing was 1.9 per cent higher in January 2025 than twelve months earlier. New orders grew most in the chemical industry.

Changes in the examined main industries
Enterprises received more new orders in January 2025 than twelve months ago in the chemical industry and in the metal industry. New orders grew most in the chemical industry, where the value of orders was 11.9 per cent higher than in the year before. The value of new orders in the metal industry was 1.1 per cent higher than one year earlier. In the manufacture of paper, and paper and board products, the value of new orders received was at the same level as one year earlier, the year-on-year change being 0.0 per cent.
When interpreting these statistics, it should be borne in mind that they typically show strong fluctuations by month. Even new orders of substantial value are not examined over extended time periods but for the statistical reference month only.
