Weight structure of service production has been changed
Date of change:Changes have been made to the weight structure between industries concerning service production or the volume in the release of the index of turnover of service industries for October 2022. The changes are due to the negative gross value added in air transport, industry 51. Value added is used in the calculation of service production for forming the weight structure between the industries, so negative value added causes a situation where the development of volume in the industry has a reverse effect on the development of higher volume series. The negative weight of industry 51 due to restrictions caused by the coronavirus is replaced by a small positive weight starting from the October release. The decision is based on the handling of previous similar cases in the statistics of Finland and other countries.
