Inquiry on private sector wages and salaries

Statistics Finland inquires from enterprises data about wages and salaries every year. Wage and salary data on employees are collected from September and on workers from the last quarter of the year.

The inquiry is sample-based and concerns unorganised employers. Sampling is based on enterprises' industry and size category. Enterprises employing at least five persons are selected to the sample.

The data are used in statistics on wages and salaries and in the index of wage and salary earnings, among others.
