Volume covered by granted building permits declined in the period December 2021 to February 2022 from one year back
According to Statistics Finland, in December to February, building permits for newbuilding were granted for a total of 7.0 million cubic metres, 17.3 per cent less than one year ago. Building permits for residential building construction were granted for 2.5 million cubic metres, which was 19.8 per cent less than one year previously. Especially the cubic volume granted for the construction of blocks of flats fell considerably, by 32.5 per cent. The cubic volume of other than residential building construction went down by 15.9 per cent. Building permits for 8,087 dwellings were granted over the period, 19 per cent less than one year previously.
