Brisk rise in producer prices of agricultural products continued in the second quarter of 2022
According to Statistics Finland, the producer prices of agricultural products rose by 29 per cent from one year ago in the second quarter of 2022. The prices of vegetable products went up by 39 per cent and those of meat and animal products by 23 per cent. The smallest domestic grain crop in the 2000s, the rise in energy prices in the aftermath of the pandemic, the increase in production costs as a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine and the challenges of Ukrainian grain transports as well as the weakening of the crop outlook due to drought in several countries are the main reasons behind the increase in producer prices.
