Industrial output grew in December 2022 both month-on-month and year-on-year

Output decreased most from the previous month in the forest industry

Adjusted for working days, industrial output (C) increased by 2.1 per cent from one year earlier. Seasonally adjusted output went up in December by 2.4 per cent from the month before.

Industrial output grew in December strongest from the month before in the electrical and electronics industry, by 16.2 per cent, and in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 12.8 per cent. Output in the metal industry was 5.3 per cent higher and in the chemical industry 0.5 per cent higher than in November. In the forest industry, output decreased by 6.2 per cent and in mining and quarrying by 4.6 per cent from the month before.

Compared to one year ago, output grew in only two of the examined main industries. In the electrical and electronics industry, output increased by 26.7 per cent and in the metal industry by 12.6 per cent from December 2021. Output declined most in mining and quarrying, by 32.6 per cent compared to one year ago. In the forest industry, output decreased by 19.4 per cent and in the chemical industry by 15.3 per cent compared to the previous year.
