More open job vacancies in 2022 than in 2021
According to Statistics Finland, the average number of job vacancies in 2022 was 68,300, whereas in 2021 the number was 58,000. The annual level data on open job vacancies are based on averages of quarterly figures.

Characteristics of job vacancies
The number of open job vacancies grew on the annual level particularly in the major region of Helsinki-Uusimaa (+ 3,900) and in the industry groups of trade, transportation and storage and accommodation and food service activities (G to I) and in manufacturing industries (B to E). The number of open job vacancies increased especially in establishments with 10 to 49 employees (+ 4,600).
In the first half of 2022, there were clearly more open job vacancies than in the corresponding period of the previous year. By contrast, the number of open job vacancies decreased in the last quarter of 2022 compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

On average, 74 per cent of open job vacancies in 2022 were offered by private enterprises, while the corresponding share in the previous year was 73 per cent. Examined on the annual level, 31 per cent of all job vacancies were fixed-time jobs and 17 per cent part-time.
Employers assessed that on average, 61 per cent of the open job vacancies in 2022 were hard to fill, while in 2021 the corresponding share was 57 per cent. Examined on the annual level, recruitment difficulties experienced by employers have increased clearly over the past few years. While the share of hard-to-fill vacancies was under 40 per cent of all open job vacancies in 2015, the corresponding share rose to over 60 per cent in 2022.
