Turnover in industry decreased by 6.4 per cent in February 2024

According to Statistics Finland, working day adjusted turnover in industry (TOL BCD) decreased by 6.4 per cent in February 2024 from February 2023.

Turnover decreased in nearly all main industries

Turnover decreased in February 2024 in nearly all main industries. Turnover fell most in the electronic and electrical industry, being 14.4 per cent lower than one year earlier. Turnover in the forest industry went down by 5.5 per cent and in the metal industry by 3.2 per cent from one year ago. Turnover grew only in the textile, clothing and leather industry and was 0.9 per cent higher than in the previous year.

Export turnover diminished in several main industries

Export turnover decreased in several main industries in February 2024. Compared to one year ago, export turnover decreased most in the electronic and electrical industry (19.1%) and the chemical industry (15.2%). Export turnover in the metal industry decreased by 5.5 per cent from the previous year. Export turnover grew in the food industry by 5.7 per cent and in the forest industry by 5.6 per cent.

Domestic turnover decreased in several main industries. Domestic turnover decreased most in the forest industry (15.8%) and in mining and quarrying (13.9%). In the metal industry, domestic turnover was 2.6 per cent lower than one year previously. Domestic turnover grew in the electronic and electrical industry by 17.2 per cent and in the textile, clothing and leather industry by 0.7 per cent from one year back.

Turnover decreased in February from the previous month

Seasonally adjusted turnover in industry decreased by 2.0 per cent in February 2024 compared to January. In January, turnover grew by 6.1 per cent and in December turnover decreased by 2.5 per cent compared to the month before.
