Road traffic accidents claimed 12 lives in September 2025
According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, 244 accidents involving personal injury happened in road traffic in September 2025. In them, 12 persons were killed and 290 persons injured. The number of fatalities was two higher and the number of persons injured 49 lower than in September 2024. The data were compared with the previous year's preliminary data.

Road traffic accidents in January to September
According to preliminary data, there were a total of 1,895 road traffic accidents involving personal injury in the January to September period of 2025. In them, 135 persons were killed and 2,290 persons injured. The number of deaths was 14 higher and the number of persons injured 220 lower than in the corresponding period of 2024. Of the persons who were killed, 76 travelled by passenger car, six by van, one by moped, 16 by motorcycle and two by lorry. Thirteen pedestrians and two riders of a light electric vehicle were killed. Fourteen cyclists on a traditional bicycle and one cyclist on an electric bicycle were killed. In addition, four other road users were killed.
