Database tables and releases of the statistics on prices of dwellings in housing companies were corrected as concerns new dwellings in housing companies. The automatic definition of a new dwelling does not function in a market situation where a new dwelling may not be sold for a long time.
Manual corrections were made in the data on new dwellings in housing companies. Erroneous location data were corrected in the data and old dwellings were corrected into new dwellings. The corrections concern point figures, numbers and quarterly and annual changes for 2023 published on new dwellings in housing companies.
The corrections had the biggest effect on the point figures for Eastern Finland, where the index point figures for blocks of flats and all types of buildings were corrected in each quarter at least by 2.1 percentage points and at most by 4.1 percentage points. The index point figure for the whole country was corrected at most by 0.5 percentage points. On the level of the whole country, the number of transactions was 11 more than in the previously published data. (The word “more” was corrected on 21 February 2024 at 14:30. Previously, it read
erroneously “lower”.)
In addition, due to the low number of transactions, changes in average prices were used in some areas instead of quality standardisation in the last quarter of 2023. No separate index series is published for these areas, but the calculated index series affect aggregates, for example, the index point figure for the whole country.
