First release date: 25.6.2025

Information about the new statistic

The statistics on global value chains describe how enterprises in Finland are positioned in global value chains and how enterprises’ business functions are outsourced internationally. Statistics contain data on, for example, globalization-related issues faced by enterprises, reorganization of value chains and outsourcing of business functions according to enterprise type or sourcing destination. The information is collected with an enterprise survey every three years. The new set of statistics is based on the EU Regulation on business statistics.

Statistics related to enterprises’ outsourcing activities and global value chains have been compiled in the past concerning the following time periods: 2001–2006, 2009–2011, 2015–2017 ja 2018–2020. The reference periods, sample sizes and questionnaires have varied for each of these surveys. The information concerning reference periods 2015–2017 and 2018–2020 have been published as experimental statistics Global value chains and international outsourcing (only in Finnish).
