Biogas enquiry

The inquiry collects annual data on biogas production, raw materials used in production, production volyme, product sales and applications. For biogas intended for transport distributions, data is requested on biogas procurement and sources of supply, and on biogas sales by type and quality of gas.

The data is used for compiling energy statistics and greenhouse gas inventories, international statistics, developing material flows, nutrient and organic matter recycling, monitoring the biogas sector, assessing the environmental impacts of agriculture, and calculating emissions from the waste sector, reporting emissions and producing a waste plan.

The inquiry includes all biogas-producing facilities in Finland, including farms, wastewater treatment plants, landfills and digesters, as well as distributors of transport biogas. The inquiry provides important information about carbon-neutral and renewable energy sources in Finland.

The biogas inquiry is carried out in cooperation with the Natural Resources Institute Finland (LUKE) and the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).
