Description
The Cost index of forest machinery and vehicles describes changes in the cost factors of prices of forest machinery and vehicles. The types of forest machinery for which indices are produced are forest tractors and felling machines. A separate cost index is additionally produced for wood chippers. The monthly publication of the Cost index of forest machinery and vehicles also includes point figures of the cost index for log truck combinations. The index point figures are available by cost factor (9-11 factors).

Index point figures relating to development in the prices of the cost factors of forest tractor and felling machine work, wood chipping and transport. The basic data are confidential.
Classifications used
Types of forest machine: forest tractors and felling machines. Cost factors: wages, indirect wages, travel and accommodation, fuels and lubricants, repairs and servicing, transport, depreciation of capital, interests, insurance, administration and work supervision. Cost factors for wood chippers: same as for forest machines excluding transport. Cost factors for log truck combinations: wages, indirect wages, fuels and lubricants, repairs and servicing, tyres, transport, depreciation of capital, interests, insurance, operating costs, administration and maintenance.

Time of completion or release
Published on the 18th day of the month following the statistical reference month. If the day concerned falls on a weekend or a public holiday, the statistics are published on the first weekday after it.
Time series
Starting from 1989.Indices for log transport combinations and wood chippers starting from 2005. The currently used Cost index of forest machinery and vehicles is 2010=100.
