Research services
Micro data or unit-level data are available from Statistics Finland for scientific studies and statistical surveys. Data are available from both enterprise and individual databases in a variety of ways. Licences, the data, their tailoring and remote access are subject to charge.
Statistics Finland's Research Services grant licences for micro data. We offer ready-made data and tailoring of data according to research need.
Statistical legislation and data protection and confidentiality practices specified in legislation are applied in compiling and releasing the data. The releasing of data is subject to a user licence. View the rules of the Research Services (PDF).

Changes to prices of Research Services (October 4, 2024)
Statistic Finland is preparing increases to the prices of the Research Services. The changes concern the prices of the data available for researchers and the FIONA remote access system and user fees. The changes will be made in stages over the coming years.
Changes to prices of Research Services
The general VAT rate will rise from 24% to 25.5% as of 1 September 2024 (August 30, 2024)
The change will be reflected in the pricing of our services.The next billing period for the FIONA remote access environment, July - September, will be billed according to the new VAT rate (25.5%). The billing period for April - June, invoiced in August, will reflect a VAT of 24%.
The VAT for data processing is determined by the delivery date of the data. Annual fees for datasets, such as the annual fees for ready-made data with continuous delivery, will be billed according to the end of the billing period, meaning the VAT will be 25.5%.
Delay in entry to processing of applications

There are currently 35 applications in for processing and 22 applications under preliminary check. The time from processing the application to receiving the data varies depending on the extent of the data. The number of applications in the queue means the number of ready applications in the queue
