Description
The agricultural income and tax statistics contain data on the number of farms and on the arable and forest land areas of farms, income of farmers subject to taxation, and assets and debts of, and taxes paid by farmers. Personal taxation records are the main source of data for these statistics. The data are also available classified by variables like area and farm size category. The verified development is also described as a time series
Data content
The survey population is comprised of farms that are in the possession of natural persons and have an arable and/or horticultural land area under cultivation of at least two hectares. The data on farm income derive from the Tax Administration’s database. The core income concept in the statistics refers to income subject to state taxation. With certain exceptions, income subject taxation refers to all income received by the taxpayer as money or benefit with monetary value. With certain exceptions, assets subject to taxation refer to the taxpayer’s assets with monetary value. Agricultural and forestry income comprise earned and capital income from agriculture, net and capital income from forestry and income shares of agriculture and forestry from and association. The data concerning taxes are calculated from tax debiting calculations.

Regional classification (region and municipality), size classification of farms by size of cultivated arable and/or horticultural area, classification of production sectors, classification by age of farm owner.
Data collection methods and data sources
The data on income are drawn from the Tax Administration’s database. The statistical unit is a farm in possession of a natural person liable to tax. The data on income contain the income of both the farmer and his/her spouse.
Updating frequency
Annually.
Time of completion or release
The statistics become available in approximately 15 months from the end of the statistical reference year. The publication comes out approximately 18 months from the end of the statistical reference year.

Additional information
Compilations tailored to customers’ requirements can be produced from the statistics within the constraints of data protection regulations. The data can also be combined with those from the agricultural enterprise and income statistics. Data from other sources, such as registers can also be used.
