Students in preparatory education for a skills examination number 76,600 in 2006

According to Statistics Finland, 76,600 students participated in preparatory education for a skills examination during the calendar year 2006.

The number of students was 13 per cent up from the previous year. Forty per cent of the students attended training for an initial vocational qualification, 50 per cent for a further vocational qualification and 10 per cent for specialist vocational qualification. Fifty-five per cent of the students were women.

New students numbered 39,200. Of the students, 18,100 completed an entire qualification. Of the completed qualifications, 36 per cent were initial vocational qualifications, 55 per cent were further vocational qualifications and 9 per cent specialist vocational qualifications. Sixty-two per cent of the completers of qualifications were women.

These data have been collected from educational institutions. Apprenticeship training is not included in these data.
