Students in preparatory education for a skills examination number 88,600 in 2011

According to Statistics Finland, 88,600 students participated in preparatory education for a skills examination during calendar year 2011. The number of students was 3 per cent up on the previous year. Forty-nine per cent of the students attended training for an initial vocational qualification, 43 per cent for further vocational qualification and 8 per cent for a specialist vocational qualification. Fifty-four per cent of the students were women. New students numbered 43,400. Of the students, 22,000 completed an entire qualification. Of the completed qualifications, 46 per cent were initial vocational qualifications, 47 per cent further vocational qualifications and 7 per cent specialist vocational qualifications. Fifty-eight per cent of the qualifiers were women. These data have been collected from educational institutions. Apprenticeship training is not included in these data.
