Students in preparatory education for a skills examination number 88,400 in 2012

According to Statistics Finland, 88,400 students participated in preparatory education for a skills examination during calendar year 2012. The number of students was 0.3 per cent lower than in the year before. Fifty-one per cent of the students attended training for an initial vocational qualification, 41 per cent for further vocational qualification and 8 per cent for a specialist vocational qualification. Fifty-five per cent of the students were women. New students numbered 43,100. Of the students, 21,200 completed an entire qualification. Of the completed qualifications, 48 per cent were initial vocational qualifications, 45 per cent further vocational qualifications and 7 per cent specialist vocational qualifications. Sixty per cent of the qualifiers were women. These data have been collected from educational institutions. Apprenticeship training is not included in these data.
